Michelle Schusterman - Tenor Pan Originally from New Orleans, Michelle moved to Flower Mound, TX at the age of 13. While attending Marcus High School, she received 3 PASIC national drumline titles. She then went on to receive a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas, where she studied from Paul Rennick, Ron Fink, Dan Robins, Dr. Robert Schietroma, Ed Smith, Mark Ford, and Jose Aponte. While at UNT she performed for several years with the indoor drumline, Afro-Cuban Ensemble, Brazilian Ensemble, Contemporary Ensemble, and the steel band. During the spring of 2000, Michelle resided in Trinidad and Tobago, where steel drums were born, and performed for 5 weeks with the Panorama world champion WITCO Desperadoes steel band. Her experiences have also led her to share the stage with Greg Bissonnette, Paul Wertico, Heracio Hernandez, Andy Narell, Pan Ramajay, Darrin Dyke, Ray Holman, and many more. In addition to freelance performing and teaching throughout the state, Michelle currently serves as the assistant band director at Lakeview Centennial High School and Lyles Middle School in Garland, TX, as well as co-director of the Baylor University Steel Band. |
